▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
Nay, by the Moon 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 A warning for people -- 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
