۞ “Gather all the unjust persons and their spouses, and all that they used to worship!” – 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 (The man) said: "Will you look down?" 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He will say to his friend in hell, "By God, you almost destroyed me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
