Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
