The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
