The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
