In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 Then he looked around, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
