Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
