The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
Almighty Allah's Truth.
