And indeed, We delivered the children of Israel from the shameful suffering 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
