The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We have left it as a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We loosed against them a wind clamorous in a day of ill fortune continuous, 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 22
