Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
