The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers; 1 Who are humble in their service, 2 Who shun all frivolities, 3 those who pay the zakat; 4 those who safeguard their chastity 5 except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them. 6 But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; 7 who are true to their trusts and their covenants, 8 And those who of their prayers are observant. 9 These are the real gainers, 10 Who shall inherit the Paradise; they shall abide therein. 11 NOW, INDEED, We create man out of the essence of clay, 12 then We made him into a drop of life-germ, then We placed it in a safe depository, 13 We then turned the drop of fluid into a clot of blood, then the clot into a small lump of flesh, then the lump into bones, then covered the bones with flesh; then developed it in a different mould; therefore Most Auspicious is Allah, the Best Creator. 14 Then after that, certainly all of you are to die. 15 and be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. 16 We have created seven heavens above you and have never been neglectful to Our Creation. 17 We have sent a measure of water from the sky to stay on earth and We have the power to take it away. 18 And by means of this [water] We bring forth for you gardens of date-palms and vines, wherein you have fruit abundant and whereof you eat, 19 And also a tree that springeth forth from mount Sinai, that groweth oil and is a sauce for the eaters. 20 There are lessons for you in the cattle from whose bellies We give you milk to drink, and there are other advantages that you derive from them, and some of them you eat; 21 And you are carried on them and on boats. 22
