The Thamud (people) rejected the messengers. 141 when their brother Salih said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 142 Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger. 143 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 144 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 145 “Will you be left peacefully in these favours over here?” 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 sown fields, and palms with slender spathes? 148 “And you carve out dwellings in the mountains, with skill?” 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 And obey not the command of the prodigal, 151 those who spread corruption in the land instead of putting things right." 152 They replied, "Surely you are bewitched. 153 "You are but a human being like us. Then bring us a sign if you are of the truthful." 154 He said: 'Here is a shecamel. She shall have her share of water as you have yours on an appointed day. 155 And do not touch her with evil, lest the punishment of a grievous day should overtake you. 156 But they hamstrung her, then regretted; 157 So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 159

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
