The People of the Woods denied the Noble Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib (Shuaib) said to them: "Will you not fear Allah (and obey Him)? 177 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ "Give full measure, and cause no loss (to others). 181 And weigh with a balance straight. 182 "And defraud not people by reducing their things, nor do evil, making corruption and mischief in the land. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 and a mere mortal like us. We think you are a liar. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 (Shu'aib) said: "My Lord knows well what you are doing." 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 190 Yet verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 191
