And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). 141 The fish then swallowed him and he blamed himself. (For not waiting for Allah’s command.) 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will ye not then receive admonition? 155 Or have you clear evidence? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Save him who will go to hell. 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 Had we a reminder from those of yore, 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 That they would certainly be assisted, 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time. 174 And wait; they will come to know soon. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And wait, for they will soon see. 179 Exaltations be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above that they describe! 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds! 182
