Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 Who gives but little, and is niggardly? 34 Has he knowledge of the unseen, so that he sees? 35 Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 and will be fully recompensed for his deeds. 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that He it is Who enriches and gives to hold; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 And the people of Noah before. Indeed, it was they who were [even] more unjust and oppressing. 52 And the overthrown cities did He overthrow, 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The approaching event has come near. 57 None but God can avert it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
