Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Indubitable? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 On that day all your secrets will be exposed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In a Garden on high, 22 its fruits are near. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him who will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "I wish that I had not been given my Record! 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
