The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 who shall bring before thee every sorcerer of great knowledge." 112 The sorcerers came to Pharaoh. They said: 'Shall we be rewarded if we are the winners' 113 He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]." 114 Then they said: 'O Moses, will you [first] throw your rod, or shall we throw?' 115 'Throw' he replied. And when they threw, they bewitched the people's eyes and terrified them, and produced great sorcery. 116 And We inspired Moses (saying): Throw thy staff! And lo! it swallowed up their lying show. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 So the (great ones) were vanquished there and then, and were made to look small. 119 And the wizards fell down prostrate, 120 They said, “We have accepted faith in the Lord Of The Creation.” 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and then crucify you all' 124 The magicians said, "We will certainly return to Our Lord. 125 Thou takest vengeance upon us only because we have believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour out upon us patience, and gather us unto Thee surrendering.' 126
