The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
