Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
