The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Successful indeed are the believers. 1 those who humble themselves in their prayer, 2 And who keep aloof from what is vain, 3 And they who are observant of zakah 4 Who abstain from sex, 5 Save in regard to their spouses and those whom their right hands own: so they are not blameworthy 6 But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; 7 And who are shepherds of their pledge and their covenant, 8 to their promise, 9 These! they are the inheritors. 10 Who will inherit Paradise, and live in it for ever. 11 We created man out of the extract of clay, 12 Thereafter We made him of a sperm in a receptacle safe. 13 The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. 14 After that, surely, you will die. 15 Again, on the Day of Judgment, will ye be raised up. 16 And indeed We have created above you seven heavens (one over the other), and We are never unaware of the creation. 17 And We have sent down rain from the sky in a measured amount and settled it in the earth. And indeed, We are Able to take it away. 18 And We brought forth for you thereby gardens of palm trees and grapevines in which for you are abundant fruits and from which you eat. 19 and a tree issuing from the Mount of Sinai that bears oil and seasoning for all to eat. 20 And most surely there is a lesson for you in the cattle: We make you to drink of what is in their bellies, and you have in them many advantages and of them you eat, 21 and you ride on them as you do in ships. 22
