۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that Day they shall surrender, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers; 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 "So we led you astray because we were ourselves astray." 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 With cups from a flowing stream being passed around, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ – 52 Shall we be recompensed for our deeds after we die and become bones and dust? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?" 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 Lo! We have appointed it a torment for wrong-doers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 They will eat from it and fill their bellies with it; 66 Then they will have on top of it a mixture of boiling water. 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
