The people of Lut gave the lie to the apostles. 160 When their brother Lut said unto them: fear ye not? 161 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 162 So fear Allah and obey me. 163 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 164 "Must you, of all people, [lustfully] approach men, 165 And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay, but ye are froward folk. 166 They said, 'If thou givest not over, Lot, thou shalt assuredly be one of the expelled.' 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 Thereafter, We utterly destroyed the rest, 172 and We sent upon them a rain, an evil rain that fell on those who had been warned. 173 Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
