Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
