The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 "Is it that the Message is sent to him, of all people amongst us? Nay, he is a liar, an insolent one!" 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Behold, [O Salih] We are letting loose this she-camel as a test for them; and thou but watch them, and contain thyself in patience. 27 Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn' 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 and how severe was the suffering which I inflicted when My warnings were disregarded! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. 35 And (Lut) did warn them of Our Punishment, but they disputed about the Warning. 36 They demanded that he turn over his guests to them. We struck their faces, blinded them and said, "Suffer Our torment of which you were warned". 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40
