So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Do they say, "He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?" 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 Or do they say: He has forged it. Nay! they do not believe. 33 Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful. 34 Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Created they the heavens and the earth! Aye! they will not be convinced. 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord, or have they been given charge of them? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan. 42 Have they, then, any deity other than God? Utterly remote is God, in His limitless glory, from anything to which men may ascribe a share in His divinity! 43 Even if they saw lumps falling from the sky they would say: 'A massed cloud' 44 So leave them till they encounter their Day in which they shall be thunderstruck. 45 A Day whereon their plotting will avail them not at all, nor will they be succoured. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 Be patient, then, (O Prophet), until the judgement of your Lord comes. For surely you are before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise, 48 and exalt Him in the night and at the declining of the stars. 49
