AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them 81 And they used to hew out dwellings from the mountains (feeling themselves) secure. 82 So the rumbling overtook them in the morning; 83 And all that which they used to earn availed them not. 84 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, but for just ends. And the Hour is surely coming (when this will be manifest). So overlook (any human faults) with gracious forgiveness. 85 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-creator, the All-knowing. 86 AND, INDEED, We have bestowed upon thee seven of the oft repeated [verses,] and [have, thus, laid open before thee] this sublime Qur'an: 87 Do not strain your eyes towards the worldly benefits We have bestowed on some of them, nor grieve on their account. Lower your wing of mercy for the believers 88 and say, 'Surely, I am the manifest warner.' 89 As We have sent down on the dividers, (Quraish pagans or Jews and Christians). 90 (So also on such) as have made Qur'an into shreds (as they please). 91 Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one, 92 for whatever they have done! 93 (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. 94 Lo! We defend thee from the scoffers, 95 who set up another god with God, but they shall soon learn. 96 Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say, 97 Exalt with the praise of your Lord and be one of those who prostrate. 98 And worship your Lord until there comes unto you the certainty (i.e. death). 99
