The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a fitting requital, 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
