The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall, dispersing, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and when paradise is brought into view: 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 For those of you who desire to walk the path that is straight, 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
