Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 With the first blast of sound from the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then, on that day will the Event befall. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 and will turn frail, losing all force. The angels will be around the heavens and on that day eight of them will carry the Throne of your Lord above all the creatures. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Surely I knew that I should have to meet my reckoning. 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 In an elevated garden, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 And urged not on the feeding of Al-Miskin (the poor), 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
