The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. 1 Never comes (aught) to them of a renewed Message from their Lord, but they listen to it as in jest,- 2 Their hearts are involved in play; and the unjust secretly conferred, “What is he, except another a human like you?! So do you follow magic although you have perceived?” 3 And the Prophet said, “My Lord knows all that is spoken in the heavens and in the earth; and He only is the All Hearing, the All Knowing." 4 Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were Allah's messengers) were sent (with portents). 5 Not one city that We destroyed before them believed; what then, will they not believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 And We made them not bodies not eating food; nor were they to be abiders. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
