Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
