The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they differ? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
