He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
