Have you not seen how your Lord lengthens the shadows? Had He pleased, He could have made them constant; then We placed the sun as an indicator for them, 45 and then, [after having caused it to lengthen,] We draw it in towards Ourselves with a gradual drawing-in. 46 And it is He who hath made for you the night a covering, and the sleep repose, and hath made the day a resurrection. 47 And it is He who has loosed the winds, bearing good tidings before His mercy; and We sent down from heaven pure water 48 That with it We may give life to a dead land, and slake the thirst of things We have created,- cattle and men in great numbers. 49 We have indeed turned it about amongst them, so that they may remember; yet most men refuse all but unbelief. 50 And if We had willed, We could have sent into every city a warner. 51 So do not listen to unbelievers, and strive against them with greater effort. 52 ۞ And it is He, Who has let loose the two seas, one palatable and sweet, the other bitter and saltish, and there is a partition between them, which is an insurmountable barrier. 53 And it is He Who has created man from water, and has appointed for him kindred by blood, and kindred by marriage. And your Lord is Ever All-Powerful to do what He will. 54 And yet they worship, besides Allah, that which can neither benefit them nor hurt them; and the infidel is ever an aider of the devil against his Lord. 55 And We have sent thee (O Muhammad) only as a bearer of good tidings and a warner. 56 Say thou: I ask of you no hire for this, save that whosoever will may take unto his Lord a way. 57 Also trust in the Living One who never dies and glorify Him with His praise. He has sufficient knowledge of the sins of His servants. 58 He who has created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in six aeons, and is established on the throne of His almightiness; the Most Gracious! Ask, then, about Him, [the] One who is [truly] aware. 59 When it is said to them: 'Prostrate yourselves before the Merciful', they ask: 'And what is the Merciful? Shall we prostrate ourselves to whatever you bid us' And it increases their aversion. ۩ 60
