The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
