The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And spreading shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
