The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 arise and give warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never! For he is an enemy to Our signs! 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - 20 He looked (at others); 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
