The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
