The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 except boiling water and pus 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
