The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to the stinters who, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 On a grievous day, 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 though they were not sent to be their keepers -- 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
