The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
