The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
