Has the story reached thee, of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And placed it before them.. he said, "Will ye not eat?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said, 'We have been sent to a people of sinners, 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
