Noah (Nooh)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Verily, We sent Nuh (Noah) to his people (Saying): "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful torment." 1 He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner, 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 “Then I also told them publicly and also spoke to them softly in private.” 9 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 10 and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents 11 'And give you increase in wealth and children, and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers." 12 What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God, 13 "'Seeing that it is He that has created you in diverse stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97]. 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 ‘So that you may tread the wide roads in it.’” 20
