The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 The second blowing of the Trumpet follows it (and everybody will be raised up), 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Have you received the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away in a hurry, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
