The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And no trifle. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
