The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 by the House inhabited 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
