The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
