The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
